Cape Kamui

Cape Kamui, jutting out into the Sea of Japan from the northwestern tip of the Shakotan Peninsula, is a cape surrounded by 80-meter-high sheer cliffs, offering breathtaking views of the iconic “Shakotan Blue.”

The “Charenka Path,” (named from the heroin of a sad AINU love story) a walking trail, leading from the parking lot to the tip of the cape, is a roughly 770-meter with some ups and downs.

Bamboo grass is growing thickly at the side of the path and the sea breeze caresses your face. You may stop walking sometimes to see the crystal-clear blue sea spreading out below.

After a 20-minute walk to the tip, you’ll arrive at Cape Kamui Lighthouse and the viewpoint offering a 300-degree panoramic view.

Just enjoy the tremendous view of the blue sea and sky stretching endlessly!
