Historical Village of Hokkaido, the open-air museum of relocated and restored buildings that represent the history of Hokkaido from 1868 to the 1920s.
The traditional New Year’s events that began with Hatsumode (New Year’s visit to a shrine) are ending with Kagami-biraki, the breaking of the rice cake (Mochi) offerings, and Dondoyaki, the burning of New Year’s decorations.
Here, at the Takei Sake Brewery in the City Zone of the village, visitors were treated with Oshiruko (sweet red-bean soup with Mochi) after the Kagami-biraki ceremony.
At the old Shinano Shrine in the Farmers Village Zone, visitors prayed for good luck and good health in 2025 as they gazed into the flames.
Wishing you all the great 2025 and see you in Hokkaido!
