About 50 kilometers east of Sapporo lies the town of Kuriyama.
There you’ll find Kobayashi Sake Brewery, established in 1878 and known for its brand “Kita no Nishiki” (Northern Brocade).
The brewery complex features several attractions, including a museum, a soba and sake restaurant called “Kin-Sui-An,” and a traditional Japanese house café named “Kobayashi-ke”.
The museum showcases around 5,000 items such as tokkuri (sake flasks), choko (sake cups), and everyday tools used by brewery workers.
One unique highlight is a preserved reception room used by the GHQ (General Headquarters) after WWII, where summary trials were held during their occupation.
And of course, you can enjoy sake tastings! Why not take a leisurely stroll through Kuriyama while feeling pleasantly tipsy?
